A new robot, the Cubestormer II, has beaten the human world record of 5.66 seconds.
The Cubestormer II, built by Mike Dobson and David Gilday, was built with Lego Mindstorm Kits and uses as it’s “brain” a Samsung Galaxy S II with a custom-built, Rubik’s Cube solving app. The app uses the camera of the phone to note the position of the cube, determines the solution, and then instructs the Lego kit on how to move the cube.
World record for speed? Maybe. World record for awesome? Surely.
