Contrary to what you may have heard about how airplanes dispose of the human waste that they accumulate during a flight, planes do not dump their waste mid-flight (nor have they ever done this).

Trucks pump out waste that accumulates during a flight for disposal on the ground. Human waste is never jettisoned mid-flight.

Of course, the waste compartment may leak, accumulating an ever-increasing ball of “blue ice”. There have been a few cases of this frozen leaking falling to the ground and even hitting houses and other objects (indeed, the Mythbusters showed how this is possible).

Even so, mid-flight waste dumping has never been the way that planes handle disposal. It is pumped out once back on the ground, like any other passenger vehicle with a bathroom.
