Cloud sponges are the vacuum cleaners of the ocean. They can filter up to 10 times their own volume in water every hour in order to feed on floating microorganisms and plankton.
Cloud sponges grow up to 2 inches (5 cm) per year, reach up to 10 feet (3 meters) long and a foot (.3 meters) across. They may grow slowly, but they certainly can spare the time. Could sponges can live for well over 100 years.
